It’s amazing a lot of people still finding it difficult setting up their own mini sites.
This is a "quick and dirty" guide.
Here are the steps...
1. Go to Scriptlance, post the project, accept an offer, and let somebody else do it. :)
That's what I recommend, but for those who want to do it on their own...
1. Register a domain name
A domain name is the name you want your website to be called. If your website is called www.google.com then your domain name is google.com
A domain name will cost you about about $8 per year for registration. You can get a cheap domain here.
2. Design your website
This used to be a daunting task in the past but not anymore. There are many softwares that you can use to create stunning websites. Dreamweaver or Frontpage are two to look at. Go to www.nvu.com for a free option.
3. Get a web host
A web host is a service that will “house” your website unto cyberspace so that the world can view your website whenever they type in your domain name into their browsers.
Hostgator has webhosting for about $10/month.
4. Upload your website
You will need to move the designed website on your computer on to your web host so the world can see it. To do this, you will need a file transfer protocol program. You can get a free one at smartftp.com.
