The Power Of Focus In Internet Marketing

In Internet Marketing, as in all things in life, the power of focus can be the difference between having enormous success or miserable failure. One of the main problems that confronts most new Internet marketers, not to mention a few more experienced ones, is that they get bogged down in too many projects or learn too many skills at once. This leaves many marketing efforts half finished and sadly causes a lot of frustration and lost time which can even cause some Marketers to give. Thankfully though, this need not be the case since by choosing one area of Internet Marketing to focus on success can be achieved very quickly. There are several components using focus to achieve success and we will look at these below:

Focus Component No.1 - Make A Decision

Review what knowledge you have already learned, what assets you already have in your business(if any) and then decide how it is that you want to proceed. If you find the idea of building Adsense sites interesting then decide that is what you are going to focus your energies on. Equally if you want to do an article marketing campaign then make that the focus of your attention until the task is completed. Whatever it is that you decide to do make sure that you stick to this decision and waste no more time floundering over what to do next.

Focus Component No.2 - Create A Plan Of Action

Nothing will be achieved without action so it is important to break down what it is that you want to achieve into a step by step plan with all the specifics listed of what it is that you will have to carry out with each stage. Don't make it any more complicated than it needs to be but at the same time do ensure that you don't leave out anything important that is crucial to the successful execution of what you are trying to achieve.

Some People Are Pissed!!

Wow.  I make a few comments about how the "gurus" are in trouble and some people really dug in...

I understand the frustration.  There definitely are those who are trying to take advantage of people in this business.  And there definitely are a few, or maybe even more than a few, who aren't that successful, even though they say they are.  More on that in a second...

My point of the "Gurus Are Screwed" post was that this business is changing.  There was a time when you could be really successful simply by putting up a single-page website with text.  But as technology has moved forward, people are starting to expect more.  They want their information served in different ways, they want to be entertained more, and they want to look "behind the curtain."

I'm not saying this out of ill will for "gurus."  It's my opinion that there will always be a place for text-based sales letters, so they'll be ok.  And they'll be able to make money by driving traffic to affiliate offers via PPC or whatever else.  They'll be able to make money with Adsense or something similar...

But people who don't keep up with the level of personality and charisma via audio, video, and other advancements in online technology won't have the status they have today.

That's it.  I'm not saying that those with lack of personality and charisma are bad people.  They're simply not ready for the next phase of online marketing and will have to stick to more "old school" methods.

A lot of the comments which came through didn't get that.  They focused on how the "gurus" only make money selling "make money" stuff, or how many of them are hustlers.

This is true.  Many are hustlers.  And take away the "make money" income from most of these guys and they wouldn't really have a business.  With that said though, isn't the "make money" stuff a business?

To those who are frustrated... If it makes you feel better, the next time you get a "make money" email, lookup the address at the bottom on Zillow and get property value.  You'll see that a lot of the "gurus" aren't doing as well as you might think.

"Mr. X is in Jail!"

Saw a thread with this title on a popular online marketing forum.  It seems that one of the guys involved with the current online marketing "hot product of the week" had some recent legal problems when criminal charges were filed against him, alleging fraud and imitation of a licensed professional. 

According to a press release by the arresting sheriff's department, this guy was selling ebooks by "medical experts," with claims to treat attention deficit disorder, irritable bowl syndrome, head lice, female and male infertility, chronic body odor, yeast infections, scabies, ringworm infections, poison ivy, depression and anxiety, shingles, high blood pressure, hives, eczema, vertigo, pink eye, warts, and migraines, among others. The press release says that these books were not written by medical professionals.

Once the word got out, people started questioning the online marketing product.  They also started to question people promoting the online marketing product.

I'm not here to discuss the guilt or innocence of Mr. X.  The court will figure that out just fine.

What I want to know is your thoughts on the ethics of online marketing...

Are there some people you don't associate with or promote products for?  Why?

This is a great article on stuff.  And I feel the opinion, even if you don't agree with him, is really needed in this community, just to have something other than the "I've got a garage bigger than the average house and it's full of luxury cars" sales pitch so common with online marketing gurus.

Five Signs of Job Burnout...

Have a lot of people on here who are still working for somebody else. Saw this list today and thought it might be something you guys can relate to...

Sign No. 1: Your co-workers are walking on eggshells around you.
If you find yourself becoming cranky and irritable with co-workers you used to get along with, it may be more than just typical interpersonal dynamics.

Sign No. 2: You come in late and want to leave earlier.
You used to wake up in the morning excited for another day, but now every day you dread heading into the office. Once lunch passes you start watching the clock, counting the minutes to the end of the day.

Sign No. 3: Apathy has replaced enthusiasm.
You feel no motivation, no sense of accomplishment and have no desire to be challenged. Those who have burnout lose their motivation to perform, as well as their feelings of pride for a job well done.

Sign No. 4: You've lost camaraderie with co-workers.
You're no longer interested in the company network. You used to go to lunch, go out for drinks and participate in other company functions but now have no desire in socializing in or out of the office.

Sign No. 5: You're feeling physically sick.
You always feel exhausted, have headaches, feel tension in all of your muscles and are having trouble sleeping. These physical signs are common indicators of job stress, and demonstrate that this can turn into a physical problem.
